Question
Diva : Does the Public really Prefer singles to albums ?!
Ruge Mutahaba : I think the public prefers albums kuliko singles.
Ila its not true, public wanapenda singles zaidi.

Diva : Has The Internet helped or hurt the Music Business ?!
Ruge : The internet is a two sided sword…it has helped the
industry sana but has also hurt it. Helped in a way of being able to
enable music to be spread faster but hurt in increasing of piracy, more
competition and also the increase of choices for listeners. The more
choices they have, the higher the expectation for the artists who mostly
don’t understand on the raised benchmark.
Diva : Will the Music business (Bongo Flava )
survive another 20 years ?!
survive another 20 years ?!
Ruge : It will survive…itabadilika sana and fuse with other
music, they wont be this same Bongo flava because worldwide hakuna
music ambayo haina fusion labda traditional music only.
Diva : According to your views , how has the music industry changed especially for new acts coming to the Market ?
Ruge : The change of technology has brought about a great shift in how the industry works and whether we like it or not, the industry has completely changed. And even worse it will continue to change….really really good musicians will remain and average ones will not last. Long lasting classics will be making money for the longest time…while average songs will loose money. Fewer top artists will remain, tryouts will be many but only a few will survive.
True artistry will be the determinant for someone to do well or not well in the market.

Diva : According to some changes in the music industry , how do you see musicians demonstrating greater entrepreneurship?
Ruge : Only musicians/ artists with great entrepreneurship skills will rise to the top. Music is a business and only smart businessman survive. It’s a cruel world and a very competitive industry, if one has business skills they have an edge to the
